About this role

Work location: 2728 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB, R7B 0M8 Wage: 17.00 hourly / 30 to 40 hours per week Nature of employment: Term or contract and Full time (Shift, Morning, Night, On call, Weekend, Overtime available) Start date: Starts as soon as possible Number of vacancy: 2 Languages: English On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Work setting: Restaurant Job Duties -Coordinate food preparation and kitchen workflow for special events, large group orders, and party tray orders to ensure food is prepared accurately and on time. -Determine appropriate portion sizes for sushi, sashimi, rice, noodles, seafood, meat, and other menu items while helping control food costs and minimize waste. -Plan menus and estimate food requirements for their realization -Prepare sushi rice, raw fish, seafood, hot dishes and assemble sushi and rolls according to established recipes and restaurant standards -Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions as required. -Inspect kitchen and food preparation areas to ensure food safety and sanitation standards are maintained. -Requisition food ingredients and kitchen supplies. -Monitor inventory levels, food usage, and proper storage of perishable ingredients. -Clean kitchen and work areas in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards. Qualifications 1.Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. 2.Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience in a restaurant or food service environment. 3.Cuisine Experience: Previous experience preparing Asian cuisine is required. Experience with Japanese cuisine is preferred. 4.Familiarity with Japanese ingredients, cooking methods, sauces, rice preparation, seafood handling, and food presentation is an asset. 5.Food Safety Certificate: A valid Food Safety Certificate is an asset. Candidates who do not currently hold one must be willing to obtain the certificate after hiring within the period specified by the employer. 6.Knowledge of proper handling, storage, and preparation of raw and perishable food ingredients, including seafood.
