Home Support Worker Employer: Private Household Location: Vancouver, BC Workplace Information: On-site (Employer's Home) Salary: $24.50 per hour Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time Start Date: As soon as possible Vacancies: 2 Job Description A private household is seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Support Worker to provide care and assistance to a 72-year-old individual living with dementia. The successful candidate will support the client's daily living activities, personal care needs, comfort, safety, and well-being within a private home environment. Responsibilities • Provide bedside and personal care • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene • Administer medications as directed by the employer or healthcare professionals • Assist with mobility, walking, and regular exercise activities • Feed or assist in feeding the client • Provide companionship and emotional support • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for a client with dementia • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties • Launder clothing and household linens • Shop for groceries and household supplies as required • Monitor the client's condition and report any changes to family members or designated contacts • Assist with other duties related to patient care, comfort, and daily living Employment Requirements Language • English Education • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate • Completion of a caregiver, home support worker, personal support worker, health care aide, or related program is an asset • Equivalent experience may be considered Experience • Experience providing care to seniors, persons with disabilities, or individuals with dementia is an asset Certificates • First Aid Certificate • CPR Certificate Work Setting • Private residence • On-site work only • No remote work option Security and Safety • Criminal record check required Physical Requirements • Ability to assist with mobility and transfers • Ability to handle weights between 61 and 80 kg (133–176 lbs) Personal Suitability • Client-focused • Dependable • Reliable • Flexible • Patient • Honest • Good judgement • Strong interpersonal skills Benefits • Statutory holidays and vacation pay as per provincial employment standards How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and references outlining their qualifications and experience.
