There is no option to work remotely. Work setting -Restaurant Job Duties -Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes according to standardized recipes, including preparing, seasoning, marinating, and cooking a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, soups, appetizers, noodles, fried rice, and specialty menu items while ensuring consistency in taste and presentation. -Plan menus, estimate food requirements based on business needs and customer demand, and assist in developing new menu items and improving recipes. -Determine food portion sizes, control food costs, and minimize food waste while maintaining quality standards. -Requisition food ingredients, kitchen supplies, and equipment, and inspect deliveries to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with restaurant standards. -Co-ordinate daily kitchen activities to ensure efficient workflow, timely food preparation, and smooth service during regular operations and busy periods. -Monitor food quality, consistency, and presentation to ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's established quality control standards and customer expectations. -Inspect kitchen and food preparation areas to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with food safety and public health regulations. -Assist in training and providing guidance to kitchen staff and kitchen helpers on food preparation techniques, cooking procedures, proper food storage, sanitation, and safe food handling practices. -Maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment, and report inventory shortages or equipment maintenance needs. -Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas in accordance with established health and safety procedures. -Assist in managing daily kitchen operations and provide technical guidance to kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations and high-quality food production. -Assist in organizing food preparation and kitchen operations for buffets, banquets, and special events as required. Education and Work Experience Requirements -Completion of secondary (high) school education is required; culinary training or diploma is considered an asset. -Minimum 2 years of proven experience preparing Chinese cuisine. Experience in Cantonese, Szechuan, or other regional Chinese cuisine is preferred. -Strong knife skills and experience in preparing, cutting, marinating, and cooking meat, seafood, poultry, and vegetables using a variety of Chinese cooking techniques, such as stir-frying, steaming, deep-frying, braising, and roasting. -Ability to independently prepare menu items according to standardized recipes while maintaining consistency in quality and presentation. -Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure during peak service hours. -Solid knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and safe food storage procedures. -Valid Food Safety Certificate required. -Demonstrated reliability, strong organizational skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
